DAD Foundation fundraising
As challenging as securing grants can be to any organization, fundraising is always an option. The DAD Foundation for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing prides in offering volunteer/employment opportunities for individuals who give their free time to help us fundraise to meet our goals. In this endeavor, we were able to raise funds while working being apart of the Detroit Tigers Non Profit Program. In our third year, we were able to raise funds to fund our Youth Employment Program, YEP; specifically designed for the deaf and hard of hearing youth. We launched our program this summer, while working a snack booth at the 33th African World Festival, August 19-21.
The program gave the deaf youth an opportunity not only to work, but to understand the dynamics in working and all that is involved in becoming employed.
Our fundraising efforts helped us raise over $2,000 to run the snack booth for the weekend, including administrative and interpreter costs.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us. If you are interested in volunteering your time and you have an interest in learning sign language, our fundraising program may be of some interest to you. Whether you are a homemaker, retired, sign language student/interpreter training program student, or just merely want to help, please contact us. We would love to have you join us.
